She was never “cancelled” for these acts, but Elizabeth Olsen was heavily criticized for two stupid reasons.
First was just after Chadwick Boseman’s death was announced (R.I.P). A lot of Boseman’s co-stars posted on their social media accounts in honor of the actor, but “fans” noticed that Elizabeth Olsen was not one of them. So, they started to criticize her for this act.
There could be a lot of reasonable situations where Olsen didn’t post anything. Not all celebrities like to express low points of their lives, and maybe being silent on her Insta is Olsen’s way of paying tribute to Chadwick Boseman. However, not everyone was being considerate of all the possible reasons.
As a result, this happened…
Though Olsen later denied in an interview that the comments were the reason why she quitted Instagram, she did later say that she didn’t like how “I’m an entitled person whose voice must be heard on this issue.”
The second time when Elizabeth Olsen got cancelled for such a small reason was a post tweeted by a Michelle Pfeiffer fan, which featured a video of Olsen saying that Michelle Pfeiffer was the only Catwoman.
However, since this tweet was posted during the time when the new Batman movie was about to be released, and the Catwoman was Zoë Kravitz, who’s half African American, so this caused a bit of a controversy.
But what some people didn’t realize was that this video was about 10 years old, so Elizabeth Olsen wouldn’t have known at the time that Zoë was casted. Even if the video was created in 2022, this is Elizabeth Olsen’s personal opinion that Michelle Pfeiffer’s portrayal was the best, and there’s no need to attack her for being a racist.
Jeez, at this point, people are just trying to find something so small, just to “cancel” a celebrity. Remember, celebrities are humans, too.
